Steve Carter Wins Grand Prix Milwaukee

Reddit

The final Grand Prix of the 2016 calendar year is in the books. Grand Prix Milwaukee looked to close out the year with the bang of Kaladesh Limited. At the end of Day One it looked as if Matt Severa might pull a back-to-back after his win at Grand Prix Denver but he failed to make the Top 8.

Instead it was Team East-West Bowl that dominated the roster of the elimination rounds. Ari Lax, Ben Weitz, Eric Severson, and Brandon Fischer all made the Sunday stage and they were joined by Corey Burkhart, who finished 2nd and 9th in his past two Grand Prix, Steve Carter and Toshiya Kanegawa who went 9-0 on Day One, and Erik Petre who won Grand Prix Pittsburgh earlier this year.

At the end of the day it was Brandon Fischer, looking to make up for his finals loss at Grand Prix Costa Rica earlier this year, up against Steve Carter in his first Grand Prix Top 8. History repeated itself as Fischer found himself one game win short of the trophy as Steve Carter took home the gold in his first Sunday appearance.
