Beat Downs with the Boz: Standard Bant Company v2

Reddit

This week I bring you another of the Pro Tour Eldritch Moon hits! Luis Scott-Vargas, the legend, the hall of famer and the Top 8 Competitor played a Bant Company deck that has everything I want. His version is the best at preserving and growing a board presence. While some people are playing Thalia, Heretic Cathar to aggro their opponent out, Luis played Tireless Trackers and a Jace, Vryn's Prodigy so he could go bigger and grind people out. Once you set up shop, Selfless Spirit and Archangel Avacyn ensure that you don't lose your position. There are many flavors of Bant Company, but I think Luis really hit the nail on the head with his build.

Deck Tech

Match 1: 4-Color Rites

Match 2: W/B Control

Match 3: B/G Delirium

Match 4: The Mirror

Match 5: Sultai Control

Whoa, those were sweet games! This deck is a real joy to play and I think a big part of that is how well it is built. It is fast, has card advantage, decent interaction and the card quality is real good too. The one card I could see changing is the 1 Jace, but he is like the 5th copy of Dromoka's Command and Collected Company. I could also see some number of Stasis Snares being in the sideboard as a way to deal with the Emrakul, the Promised End decks. Emrakul is the one big problem and Reflector Mage is not going to cut it. Languish is pretty annoying too, but can be overcome more easily. Other than those two cards, it really felt like everything Bant did was just better than everyone else.

Until next week, GLHF friends. May you smite thy enemies with a Golden Axe!
