Beat Downs with the Boz! - Standard U/W Panharmonicon

Reddit

If you like shenanigans, I have the deck for you this week. Panharmonicon is a fringe card that has made appearances on LSV's stream among other places and it is 100% value and, yes, 100% shenanigans. With a Panharmonicon in play cards like Reflector Mage and Skysovereign, Consul's Flagship trigger twice and become crazy powerful. Glint-Nest Crane helps you find Panharmonicon and Eldrazi Displacer is kind of like redundancy. Most of the cards other than Panharmonicon are pretty fine on their own and without it, the deck can still function as a Midrange strategy. All this means that this deck should be fairly consistent, but broken like a combo deck . . .  at least on paper. Seth Manfield, the literal Magic God, made Top 8 at GP Denver and let's see if we can have similar results in this Magic Online League!

Match 1 vs B/G Delirium

Match 2 vs U/W Flash

Match 3 vs U/W Humans

Match 4 vs Temur Aetherworks

Match 5 vs Jeskai Flash

I am not going to lie, this is not my favorite deck. That said, it does have a lot going for it, and is well positioned against some of the other top decks. This would make it a good choice for an event if you are expecting a lot of Temur Aetherworks, but not as good if you are expecting a lot of Mardu Vehicles. You can do some amount of compensating in the sideboard, but the card Panharmonicon is going to favor longer games where doing something powerful and hard to interact with is more important than doing something fast. Seth Manfield managed to do well at GP Denver, which was a fairly open field and whatever he plays is something you should take note of. Seth has been really good at choosing decks lately. I also think there is a fair amount of tuning that you could do with this deck and I honestly want to see a little more top end. The deck could do a lot of bouncing and blinking but it couldn't actually kill anything. Perhaps Fairgrounds Warden could fit into the deck and maybe it is worth splashing Noxious Gearhulk. We have not seen the last of this deck and I believe it will improve a lot as the new set is released.

Until next week, GLHF friends. May you smite thy enemies with a Golden Axe!
