Martell is Champion in Montreal
Pro Tour Gatecrash is in the books, and what a weekend it was. After sixteen rounds of swiss, the Top 8 was absolutely stacked with talent. Melissa DeTora earned the title of the first woman to Top 8 a Pro Tour. Gerry Thompson and Owen Turtenwald each made their first Pro Tour Top 8. Ben Stark made a convincing case for his Hall of Fame ballot with a fourth Top 8. Moving past the players, the Top 8 featured six unique archetypes featuring all manner of cards and strategies.
Tom Martell fought through Melissa DeTora' Thragtusks in the quarterfinals, winning a very tight game five with an Orzhov Charm on Restoration Angel to flicker Zealous Conscripts in Melissa's combat step. In the semifinals Martell maneuvered his way though an absurd game against Eric Froehlich where both players had Boros Reckoners in play and Blasphemous Acts in hand. In the finals, Tom came back from one game down with a flurry of Obzedat, Ghost Council and Falkenrath Aristocrat.
Congratulations to Tom Martell, your Pro Tour Gatecrash champion!
