Rivals of Ixalan is upon us, and it brings with it the excitement that Dinosaurs could be a real deck in a constructed format. Players everywhere are scrambling to try to find the right combination of ramp, dinosaurs, and interaction, but we've yet to see which builds can rise to the top tables and put up results. If you're looking to give Dinosaurs a spin, Seth2's take may be a good place to start:

Thunderherd Migration
This deck is all about maximizing on turn two acceleration. There are plenty of options available, but most of those play into cards like Magma Spray and Harnessed Lightning. Otepec Huntmaster and Drover of the Mighty are powerful enough to be worth playing despite that, but Thunderherd Migration is a welcome addition that allows you some space to sidestep those removal spells.

In addition to acceleration, the key to this style of deck is to ensure that you have powerful threats up and down the curve. This deck starts with Deathgorge Scavenger, which does a fantastic job of mitigating the power of Search for Azcanta and The Scarab God. Then you've got Ripjaw Raptor which is an incredible threat in a world of Red removal spells. It's great at stopping opposing attackers in their tracks and is a very efficient threat. Once you get out of your early-game threats, Regisaur Alpha has been a flagship card for the archetype since it appeared in Ixalan, while Carnage Tyrant is a resilient, control-slaying monster.

One of the biggest differences between this deck before and after Rivals of Ixalan is the addition of Ghalta, Primal Hunger. This card, when combined with your acceleration, allows you to explode onto the board from relatively little base in the midgame. If your opponent lets you untap with just one dinosaur, it's not unreasonable that you could cast another friend and follow up with Ghalta. Or, if the game is dragging out, you can set up sequences where you use Regisaur Alpha or Carnage Tyrant as a pseudo ritual to power out your Ghalta to overwhelm opposing removal spells.
