For the last couple of years, there has been a clear Blue-based combo deck of choice in Legacy. Various flavors of Show and Tell, ranging from Omniscience to Sneak Attack, have been the easy choices for Force of Will combo decks. Recently, lists have been cropping up at local events for a different take on U/R combo featuring Mizzix's Mastery as the win condition instead of Show and Tell.

So what’s this deck trying to do exactly? The goal is to get an Enter the Infinite into the graveyard so you can cast Mizzix's Mastery and resolve an Enter the Infinite. Once you’ve done that, you can use Lotus Petals and Simian Spirit Guides to cast either Lightning Storm or Conflagrate to end the game on the spot.

So why would you play this variant over something like Show and Tell? Your win condition is more expensive, but resilient to Red Elemental Blast. Unlike Show and Tell, which either puts a Creature into play or requires cantrips to go with Omniscience, your two-card combo of Mizzix's Mastery and Enter the Infinite ends the game on the spot. Additionally, your game-ending spell is not vulnerable to Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast. Furthermore, you are no longer vulnerable to something like Karakas or Phyrexian Revoker, but can lose to graveyard hate like Deathrite Shaman or Relic of Progenitus.

At a glance, it looks like this deck may be able to keep up with the Show and Tell decks of the format. Your combo is more expensive, but the need to play additional fast mana may make the deck more explosive in spite of that. You lose the ability to combo on turn one, outside of incredibly busted draws, but you pick up points against decks that lean on Red Elemental Blast to break apart spell-based combo decks. It seems unlikely this deck can match the raw power of Show and Tell, but you don’t care about much of the Show and Tell hate, and could easily steal wins because opposing sideboards don’t line up as well against this particular combo.
