Reckless Rush

There are a lot of linear, hyper-aggressive decks in Pauper, ranging from Infect and Hexproof to Izzet Blitz and Tireless Tribe combo. The interesting thing about these decks in Pauper is that they can all be hated out if you know what to prepare for with cards like Ray of Revelation, Curfew, and various Edict and Dead Weight effects. The flip side of this is that if you’re playing a linear deck that’s different than the ones that people are prepared for, you can blindside them with something like this:

Mono-Red Battle Rage - Pauper| KelMasterP, 5-0 Pauper League

Temur Battle Rage
This is a Mono-Red Heroic deck that takes advantage of the format becoming increasingly streamlined. With fewer people playing cards like Lightning Bolt and Evincar’s Justice, you can afford to play a high-variance deck that just gets people dead. Let’s break down the pieces:

You’ve got a great set of cards that play well with pump spells. Akroan Crusader and Satyr Hoplite give you additional value from your various pump spells, while Kiln Fiend, Mage-Ring Bully, and Immolating Souleater give you the chance to kill opponents out of nowhere. As far as pump spells go, Reckless Charge is the one that gives you the most explosive potential and reach, but Mutagenic Growth and Temur Battle Rage will win you the most games out of nowhere.

When only one of the cards in your deck costs more than 1 mana, it’s not hard to overwhelm them with the raw velocity of your spells. That’s especially true since none of your cards are cantrips. That means that your plan is high variance, but you’re less likely to spend turn after turn cantripping into more cantrips.

If you’re looking to race opposing combo decks and steal games out from underneath opponents who are trying to play fair, this seems like a great way to do it.
