Quite Adept

Several months ago, we saw an exciting take on {R}{G} aggro that featured Insolent Neonate, Hollow One, and Vengevine. The deck tried to use Cathartic Reunion and Insolent Neonate to stock the graveyard full of Vengevines and then cast a couple of cheap spells like Hollow One to apply enormous pressure to the opponent as early as the second turn of the game. We haven’t seen much of the deck since then, but Warren138 is looking to change that:

Flameblade Adept
This deck eschews some of the more combotastic nature of the previous iterations of this deck. You’ve lost cards like Cathartic Reunion in favor of a more consistent aggro plan that dovetails nicely with the combo cards. Flameblade Adept pairs very nicely with Faithless Looting and Street Wraith, while Burning-Tree Emissary and Reckless Bushwhacker give you access to both fast starts and the ability to cast multiple creatures in a turn to rebuy Vengevines.

With the inclusion of both Hollow One and Flameblade Adept, Goblin Lore becomes the two-mana draw spell of choice to power both of these up. It’s worth noting that this deck can easily supplement these aggressive creatures with Become Immense and Temur Battle Rage out of the sideboard to steal games out from under opponents who think they’ve stabilized.

If you’re looking for an excuse to sleeve up some Vengevines, this deck looks like a blast to play. The addition of Flameblade Adept means that you have fewer draws that are just going to sputter out without doing anything, and the ability to apply real pressure via traditional beatdown gives you more openings to force through your combo turns in the midgame.
