A Clean Sweep

I’ve written about Day of Judgment and sweepers before, but I thought it would be useful to provide a demonstration of the general principles involved in playing sweepers. Thus, this week, I made a video in which I detail the impact of sweepers on the game and talk about some of the principles behind playing with and against sweepers. The following is the decklist I’m playing.

About 10 minutes in, when the Ravager flips:
Did you have Gideon at enough loyalty to use his -2? I’d kinda be tempted to -2 Gideon on the Ravager to bait the Angel, then Terminus them both (and the two Wolf tokens).

I’m not saying that’s a *better* line of play. But it’s sorta my reflex, and I’m curious how it would work out. (In this case my follow-up to his Metamorph would be to O-Ring it and swing for 6.)

Much smoother than the first video :-). I’m also a bit curious about Alex’s line with the Gideon. Also, if you had actually been able to use the think twice earlier, would you consider O-ring on the geist and Dead-weight on the metamorph to leave him with just a 1/1?

Yes, that line works, but I didn’t have the opportunity to Think Twice cuz I F2ed too fast.

This line works, my issue with it is that it expends the last sweeper when he still has so much gas left.

I have a list a lot like this, though with Norn instead of Tamiyo because I haven’t spent money on it in a while. I maindeck the Spellbombs. They tend to do something against every deck — Snapcaster, Moorland Haunt, Strangleroot Geists, Geralf’s Messenger, &c. Before AVR and Terminus, it was a big deal because it allowed my sweepers to actually *sweep*. Otherwise I kept having the same problem you were having with the Geists in your opening turn.
