With CoolStuffCon Orlando upon us, Magic: The Gathering players from all walks of life are triple checking their decklists and sleeving up their win-cons in preparation for a weekend of spell slinging. CommandFest returns, and from April 18th to the 20th, Magic players will have a range of events to join, from casual games with friends and new friendly faces, to fierce competition the likes of which no one has ever seen.

Among those events where players seek the thrill of a challenge, Duel Commander will be available On-Demand and will have 2 Swiss events over the weekend. The first will be held on Saturday, at 3:00 PM EDT, and the second Sunday, at 10:30 AM EDT, with 3 rounds per event. For a $32 entry, undefeated players will walk away with 900 prize tickets and even those with less luck gain a minimum of 120, while winners of On-Demand matches can earn 200 tickets per match victory. Rise up and take the glory and tickets for your own!

For those who may be unfamiliar with Duel Commander, this exhilarating and competitively driven format originated from Magic judge Kevin Desprez in France, and has been enjoyed by players across the world since 2007. Players choose a Legendary creature as their commander and build a 99-singleton library that must align with the color identity of the chosen commander. Sounds familiar, yes? What makes Duel Commander so unique and fun is that, in contrast to EDH/CEDH, players compete in 1 on 1 best of 3 matches. Players also begin with 20 life points each, much like many formats in Magic: The Gathering today, and of course, Duel Commander's banlist is quite different than EDH/CEDH.
