Eldritch Moon is on the horizon, and with it comes all manner of new and exciting toys, from Eldritch Evolution to our new, tentacle-y overlords. That said, sometimes the most innocuous effects are the ones that make the biggest impact. Brian DeMars has taken this to heart and brewed up an exciting take on Red-White Equipment featuring a pair of Eldritch Moon sleepers.

This is a fresh and exciting take on a Red-White aggressive strategy that focuses on Allies and equipment rather than Human-based synergies. The key interaction is Sigarda's Aid and cheap, powerful equipment like Captain's Claws and Bone Saw. This allows you to pump your creatures at instant-speed or just cheat on mana when you first cast them. This makes cards like Stone Haven Outfitter and Weapons Trainer much more efficient threats, particularly in conjunction with the tokens generated by Captain's Claws.

The Ally tokens generated by Captain's Claws are especially exciting in conjunction with the likes of Stoneforge Acolyte to dig through your deck to find powerful equipment. They also make cards like Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, Weapons Trainer, and Reckless Bushwhacker much more exciting. Reckless Bushwhacker in particular is an awesome card in conjunction with Ally Encampment, which allows you to double up on the Reckless Bushwhackers.

This deck doesn’t have the same explosive potential as humans, but has the potential to grind out bigger games due to the power of equipment, and Stone Haven Outfitter allowing you to grind out games against removal- and sweeper-heavy strategies. Only time will tell if this shell is powerful enough to make waves in a format defined by giant Eldrazi, and blisteringly fast Humans, but it’s definitely got plenty of awesome interactions that I’m excited to see in action.
